Storage Wars
Why We Use the Storage We Do
Storage doesn’t get the love it deserves. It’s not flashy, it doesn’t have RGB, and no one’s bragging about their read speeds on Reddit. But it’s one of the most important parts of your build, and it’s where most “gaming PC brands” love to cut corners.
We’ve seen it all. £2000 PCs with 500GB SSDs that are half full before you’ve even downloaded Call of Duty. Slow, no-name drives from brands you’ve never heard of. Builders who throw in an NVMe just so they can say “NVMe storage” on the spec sheet, even if it’s slower than a decent SATA SSD.
That’s not how we roll.
The Difference Between NVMe, SATA, and Marketing
There’s a ton of confusion out there about storage types. NVMe is faster, sure, but not all NVMes are created equal. Some run on PCIe 3.0, others on PCIe 4.0 or 5.0, and the difference only really matters when you’re shifting massive files, not booting into Valorant.
Choose storage based on you, not hype. If you’re gaming, a solid PCIe 4.0 NVMe from a trusted brand like WD or Samsung is perfect. If you’re editing 4K footage or dealing with huge files, then sure, spec a faster Gen 5 drive or add a secondary SSD for scratch space.
Get what you need, not what sounds cool.
No-Name Storage? Not a Chance
Don’t cheap out with mystery brands or “Amazon special” drives. Every SSD we use comes from trusted names with solid endurance ratings, proper controllers, and proven reliability. WD, Samsung, Crucial, Kingston. The good stuff.
Because your storage is where everything lives. You want it to work every time, not suddenly vanish because some bargain drive decided today was its last.
Capacity That Makes Sense
Modern games are massive. Call of Duty: Warzone, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Cyberpunk 2077 can swallow 100GB each without blinking. 2TB should be your baseline or your gaming PCs will be full after a week.
And yes, throw in a secondary drive if you want. Smart storage setups are about flexibility, not just space. Fast NVMe for games, big SATA for bulk files if you feel the need (or another SSD). Simple.
The Punk PC Way
We don’t play storage roulette. We build systems with fast, reliable drives that actually make sense for how you game, work, and live.
No tiny SSDs, no dodgy brands, and no pretending that 500GB is “enough for most users.”
Your games deserve space to breathe. Your system deserves speed that lasts.
That’s why we use the storage we do.
Storage done right, the Punk PC way.

9. What Cases Do We Recommend?
Most PC builders treat cases like decoration. Glass boxes, RGB everywhere, zero airflow. Looks great until your GPU starts sweating.
We actually test our cases. We pick the ones that balance style, airflow, and build quality, not whatever’s trending on Instagram. Whether you want something sleek or something loud, we’ll make sure it performs… and looks killer doing it.
